Meet Our Team

Christine Traynor, CRA, P.App.
Principal

Christine’s passion for real estate formed early in her career. In 2002, she began working as a residential appraiser in the Fraser Valley and Greater Vancouver Metropolitan areas followed by a two-year period working throughout the Whistler region, before relocating to Victoria in 2006. In September 2009, Christine achieved her CRA designation through the Appraisal Institute of Canada (AIC).

With 19 years of experience in real estate, including 16 years working as an appraiser and three in new development marketing and sales, Christine brings perspective and experience like no one else in the region. When she’s not focused on real estate, Christine enjoys keeping active in the outdoors including running, paddleboarding and hiking.

Robin Burrell, BA, AACI, P. App
Appraiser

Robin’s experience in appraisals transcends more than four decades. His career began with the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), followed by three years with the Department of National Revenue, before joining West Coast Savings Credit Union (Coast Capital Savings) in 1981. In 2004, Robin left Coast Capital to set up Coast Appraisals as an independent local real estate appraisal company. When Robin’s not actively appraising, you’re likely to find him playing “old timer’s” soccer with Bays United, on the golf course or enjoying a Guinness and music in the Quays Pub in Galway, Ireland.

Heidi Scheper, AACI, P.App.
Appraiser

A 25-year member of the Appraisal Institute of Canada, Heidi brings extensive appraisal experience from her work both with private companies and crown corporations/government; through her career, Heidi has developed broad based experience in a variety of areas, including valuation, analysis and consultation of residential, commercial, industrial, development and acreage properties along with special use properties. Heidi grew up in the Netherlands, where she was a competitive speed skater. When she’s not appraising, you can most likely find Heidi outdoors; skiing, hiking, or (occasionally) wielding a golf club. Heidi’s other hobbies include singing and knitting.

 

Sandy Bednarz, AACI, P.App.
Appraiser

With demonstrated experience in commercial appraisals, Sandy joins Coast with past experience working at recognized local commercial firms including DR Coell and Malahat Valuation Group. Prior to beginning her AIC candidacy through Sauder UBC, Sandy spent 15 years working in a variety of administrative functions including bookkeeping, marketing and business systems, where she developed a keen eye for detail and strong research skills. Sandy is a self-proclaimed fitness fanatic and smoothie enthusiast; outside of her work at Coast, you will find her outdoors, skiing, boating, or hiking with her family, or catching up on a good read.

Dale Beauchamp, CRA, P.App.
Appraiser

Dale brings more than eight years of residential appraisal experience to the team at Coast Appraisals, building on a longstanding understanding of the real estate market in BC. Currently a candidate member, Dale is nearing completion of his CRA designation requirements through the Appraisal Institute of Canada. Accustomed to performing at a high level, Dale also has a strong background in golf; receiving scholarships while attending Simon Fraser University, competing at a high level for several years, and working as assistant coach for the Thompson River University Men’s Golf team. Dale was born and raised in Kamloops; he relocated to the capital city in 2016 to take advantage of the mild climate and quality of life. When he’s not working, Dale enjoys all types of outdoor activities and sports, and spending time with his family.

Madonna Blunt, CRA, P.App.
Appraiser

Madonna has worked in the real estate industry since 2006, working in both project and property management capacities. Prior to joining Coast Appraisals in 2014, Madonna worked as a development coordinator for Vancity Credit Union. In addition to being designated through the Appraisal Institute of Canada (AIC), Madonna’s credentials include a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and Leadership in Environmental Energy and Design in Building Design and Construction (LEED BD+C). Outside work, Madonna likes to hit the road and explore, from the major locations to the most remote towns.

 

Mandy Butler, CRA, P.App.
Appraiser 

Mandy’s entrepreneurial spirit and innate aptitude for organizing information and numbers attracted her to become a residential appraiser. With a diverse professional background including credentials in Science and Biochemistry, Mandy’s experience includes working as a promotions director for a major media company and sole owner of a printing and graphic design firm. When Mandy is not at work, she can commonly be spotted race-walking around town, or exercising her keen skills with Rock Paper Scissors.

Sally Carlton, CRA, P.App.
Appraiser

Sally joins Coast with more than 20 years’ experience as a real estate appraiser on Vancouver Island. In addition to her strong experience with new construction and urban residential homes, Sally brings a wealth of knowledge in rural remote and seasonal recreational use properties to her role, specializing in the Comox Valley, Central and Northern Gulf Islands, as well and surrounding forestry communities such as Gold River, Tahsis, Port McNeill and Port Hardy. Sally drives roughly 35,000 km a year providing appraisal services and sails every BC Ferries North Gulf Island route as part of her work commute, logging more than 700 km round trip each week!

Suzanne Cruz, BSc
AIC Candidate 

Suzanne brings a keen interest in working with people to her role at Coast, evidenced by her education and extensive background in community support programming before taking the leap into real estate. Suzanne joins the team after working at Niemi Laporte & Dowle Appraisals, where she became a Candidate (AIC) Residential Appraiser in 2016. Originally from Terrace, Suzanne holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Northern BC. Suzanne was drawn to the coast in 2013; outside of work, you will find her actively exploring Vancouver Island – running, hiking, kayaking, and playing with her puppy at the dog park.

Mike Podgurney
AIC Candidate

Mike joins the team at Coast with previous experience in both assessment and fee appraisal, along with a BA in English from Dalhousie University. With a strong interest in real estate valuation, Mike became a candidate Member of the AIC in 2018 and is presently working on achieving his Canadian Residential Appraiser P.App. designation at UBC. Mike appreciates culture and entertainment; he enjoys volunteering for non-profits and festivals, played guitar and bass in a folk string band, and has been published in a reputable culture magazine. He also spends his free time with his family, enjoying the outdoors and reading.

Adam Wolovitz
AIC Candidate

A life-long Vancouver islander, Adam joins the team at Coast as a Candidate Appraiser, bringing a BBA in Marketing and a Diploma in Professional Golf Management from Camosun College. Prior to joining the Coast team, Adam worked at Royal Colwood Golf Club for years; doing social media, marketing, and assisting customers in the golf shop. Adam loves to spend time outdoors playing basketball, golfing, snowboarding, camping, and walking his dog, Tila. He’s played various team sports including rugby and basketball and has a Taekwon-Do black belt. Adam loves to travel, try new food and attend live concerts and hockey games.

Tim Campbell
AIC Candidate

Tim joins the team at Coast from a well-established career as a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force. Holding both a Bachelor and Masters Degree in Engineering from the Royal Military College of Canada, Tim brings extensive professionalism and discipline to his work at Coast. With eagerness and excitement about his career change, Tim is working as a Candidate Appraiser while he completes his AIC Candidacy through Sauder UBC. Prior to moving to Victoria in 2015, Tim lived all over Canada, experiencing a range of different cities and regions. When he’s not working, you’ll likely find him on a daily hike with his dog, playing an occasional round of golf, biking, or traveling.

Katharine Rose
AIC Candidate

With extensive past experience working in management and operations, complimented by roles held in sales, administration and consulting, Katharine brings a breadth of business experience to her role as an appraiser at Coast. Highly organized, with a keen eye for detail, Katharine loves a good spreadsheet. She holds an education in Nutritional Science, with a Master of Science Degree from the University of Guelph. When she’s not working, she enjoys travelling, and has lived in Japan and Spain. Katharine’s day to day interests include cooking, gardening, hiking – and spending time with family.

Tiffany Keen
AIC Candidate

With a passion for learning, Tiffany joins the team at Coast with a background in fisheries and marine biology. After completing her studies at the University of Victoria (UVic), Tiffany received a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Ocean Sciences before going on to complete a Master of Marine Studies in Fisheries Resource Management from Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN). Tiffany’s extensive work in resource management has allowed her to develop exceptional research and analytical skills, directly benefitting her work as an appraisal at Coast. When she’s not working, Tiffany enjoys reading, cooking, getting out in nature, and spending time with her kids and dogs.

Kayte Reid
AIC Candidate

An original Vancouver-islander with a passion for the coast, Kayte has lived in the West Shore for her entire life. After earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Camosun College, she embarked on a long-term career working an administrative capacity, spending more than 15 years working for law enforcement at a local level prior to joining Coast. As an AIC Candidate Appraiser, Kayte is currently pursuing her AACI designation. When she’s not at work, Kayte enjoys spending time outdoors and camping with her family.

Levi Kerns
AIC Candidate

Levi joins the team at Coast having spent the last five years working as an appraiser throughout the Fraser Valley. An AIC Candidate Member, Levi is currently working on achieving his AACI designation through the Appraisal Institute of Canada. Prior to beginning his career as an appraiser, Levi was extremely active in varsity baseball, receiving a scholarship at Minot State University before achieving a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from Thompson Rivers University. Having grown up in Victoria, Levi knows the region well. When he’s not working, you’ll likely find him on the golf course, mountain biking, or snowboarding.

Erika Fernandes
Lead Administration Coordinator

Erika comes to Coast Appraisals with a strong administrative background with a focus in customer service and management roles within retail environments. With previous employment experience managing a liquor store and working at a Canada Post outlet, Erika has a great ability to stay on top of rapidly-changing priorities, always keeping an emphasis on putting the customer first. Erika balances her busy days working at Coast with raising her growing children. Outside of work, Erika spends as much time with her children as possible; taking time outdoors to experience the natural surroundings. She also loves reading and learning new things, along with cooking and gardening.

Dara Clayton
Accounting Coordinator

Dara works with the appraisal and admin teams at Coast, contributing to a smooth appraisal process for both clients and staff. When she’s not working, you can often find Dara out at the baseball field watching one of her four sons or out on a trail with her Boston Terrier, Wrigley. She has lived most of her life on the West Coast and can’t imagine living anywhere else unless it’s close to the ocean.

Salena Parhar
Administration Coordinator, Research Assistant & AIC Student Member

With a diverse background working in a range of business capacities both within and outside the real estate industry, Salena brings host of experience to her role as a research assistant at Coast. Currently working toward a CRA designation with the AIC Institute of Canada, Salena holds a bachelor’s degree in business commerce along with a business and marketing diploma, benefitting her as a research assistant. Salena prides herself on a commitment to integrity and consistently bringing a high standard of quality to her work. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time getting out and having fun with her kids, being active with yoga or on a run, or studying.
